Meyer Homes wins Crystal Key Award for Libertyville New Home

November 16, 2011

Chicagoland Real Estate Forum congratulates Meyer Homes Inc. for winning a Crystal Key Award in Technology Innovation and Use for 28491 Ivy Lane in Libertyville.

There are many creative and innovative touches throughout the home.

The large kitchen island is a custom-crafted, etched, stainless steel countertop, which is scratch resistant with a matte finish. A hammered steel prep sink was welded into the countertop for a seamless integration. The island provides durability, work, eating and significant entertaining space. It is a striking compliment to the honed creme marfil marble countertops in the rest of the kitchen.

The main floor has 9′-6″ ceilings, 8′ doors, butt & pass painted trim throughout the house with all electrical outlets in the base boards. The Brazilian cherry custom stairway includes custom balusters, which were designed by the owners and made with a CNC machine.

Unlike other media rooms built as a separate destination in basements, this impressive media room is centralized on the main floor. It flows easily but separately from an open floor plan that integrates a large kitchen, dining room and separate seating area with a modern fireplace next to an 8′ sliding door to the patio.

The Control4 system integrates the whole house audio visual system via touch screens and standard remote controls. It has security camera options, on-demand weather and traffic, unlimited owner-programmed lighting scenes and dimming options for rooms, hallways and exterior lights. With 20 speakers integrated throughout the house, one-touch button access to music can have quite an impact.

The owners desire for 21st century technology also included energy efficiency and this modern craftsman earned the highest energy Star rating of Five Star Plus and an excellent HERS rating of 61. The extra attention to details, which eliminate air infiltration, are essential to reaching those scores, along with using two-stage modulating gas furnaces, Heat Recovery Ventilation, 16 seer A?C, BIBS insulation and attic blown to R-50. The features built into this energy-efficient home result in projected annual utility bill savings of $2,438.

This house is an impressive expression of a modern craftsman!
