Montreux Custom Homes wins Silver Key Award for Hinsdale Home

November 16, 2011

Chicagoland Real Estate Forum congratulates Montreux Custom Homes for winning a Silver Key Award in the category of “Excellence in Remodeling: Whole House Over $500,001 per unit” for a home at 440 N. Quincy in Hinsdale.

The homeowners, empty-nesters, purchased the home in 2007 with all the intentions on demo the existing structure building their dream home. However, with the downturn in the economy, the homeowners began to reevaluate the cost involved with a completely new structure.

So, the table was set for a major renovation to the existing structure that would create an additional 3,200 square feet of actual living space by adding a new foundation off the rear of the existing home to create the new basement, family room and master bedroom.

The only issue was to make sure that the existing home was perfectly blended into the new structure.

So, the Montreux design team created the flow of the new home’s dining and kitchen area by blending the old and new foundation at that point of the structure. This made it possible to create a seamless and very elegant atmosphere.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Key Awards were created in 1972 to recognize excellence in housing design, architecture, interior merchandising, remodeling and landscaping. It has since evolved into one of the premier housing programs in the country.
