Chicago Remodeler Named HBAI Best

December 10, 2011

The Home Builders Association of Illinois (HBAI) has named Chicago’s own Scott Sevon as this year’s Remodeler of the Year.

Sevon, GMR, GMB, CGP, CGR, CAPS, a partner with Men at Work (MAW) Chicago, accepted the award at the HBAI Installation and Awards Banquet held this week.

“I feel very grateful to be voted the best in the state! Although this award singled me out, it is our firm’s award. MAW Chicago, our team of employees and trade partners make this award possible,” said Sevon.

“As my partner, Mike Nagel, CGR, CAPS, and I believe, we try to give back to this great industry. We each stay involved at the local, state and national levels of our HBAs. This gives us an edge over most in our industry because we are current on rules, regulations, requirements and the pulse of our industry.”

Sevon said he has had his eye on an honor such as this since he was a child, when his father took him along to job sites. When he was old enough to build his own career, it was hard work and continuing education that helped him reach the top, even in this tough economy.

“I think the many designations I have worked hard to obtain have also helped to prepare for this and many other awards we have received over the years. Heck, these are our industry’s PhDs,” said Sevon.

“It is and has been a very trying few years for our industry but working hard and perseverance does still work in our great country.”

Among Sevon’s other honors and designations:

2011 NAHB Graduate Master Remodeler of the Year

2010-11 NAHB Build-Pac Trustee

2009 NAHBR Green Committee Chairman

2009 HBAGC Green Committee Chairman

2006 NAHB Graduate Master Builder of the Year

2006 NAHB Court of Honor Inductee

2006 HBAGC Remodeler of the Year

2004 HBAGC Builder of the Year

Congratulations, Scott Sevon, on your new award as HBAI Remodeler of the Year!
