Like Raising Money for Housing? Then, Like!

January 07, 2012

Now, here’s an easy way to help raise money for affordable housing.

Valspar Paint and Habitat for Humanity have teamed up to create Like to Change the World, in which for every new “like” the paint company receives this month on Facebook, it will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity, up to $100,000, to support the building of safe, secure and affordable housing around the country.

“We commend Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing work with families in need of affordable housing,” said John Anton, Vice President, Valspar Consumer Marketing. “Valspar is pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with Habitat and is committed to bringing our fans simple ways in which they too can support the work of this great organization.”

All you have to do is visit Facebook.com/ValsparPaint and “like” it from now through January 31, 2012, and the company will donate $1 on your behalf.

Already a Valspar Facebook fan? You can still help raise cash for homes. For every Facebook “share” of a related Like to Change the World wall post during January, Valspar will also make a $1 donation to Habitat for Humanity.

If no one participates in the fundraiser, the Valspar Corporation will still make a $10,000 minimum donation to the housing group.

In 2010, Valspar donated more than $40 million in cash and paint contributions to Habitat for Humanity, including more than 1 million cans of paint.

“We are grateful for Valspar’s continued and generous support of Habitat’s work,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “Through the Like to Change the World program, Valspar and the company’s online fans will help Habitat build homes, communities and hope.”
