Illinois’ REALTOR of the Year Wirth Getting to Know

A metro Chicago real estate broker has been chosen as the state’s realtor of the year.

Kay Wirth, ABR, CRS, GRI, LTG, PMN, SFR, of RE/MAX Unlimited Northwest in Crystal Lake, has been named the 2012 Illinois REALTOR® of the Year by the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.

The REALTOR® of the Year award is presented to a member of the Illinois Association of REALTORS® who best exemplifies the professional qualities of a REALTOR®. The award recognizes leadership in the REALTOR® Association as well as service to civic, community and charitable causes.

“Kay has dedicated much of her career to help improve the real estate industry,” said Loretta Alonzo, CRB, GRI, president of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®. “She is passionate about making our business better for all of us and has shown that throughout her career by being active in her local, state and national associations of REALTORS®.”

Wirth has been a REALTOR® for over 25 years. Among her accomplishments:

*She is a member and past president of the McHenry County Association of REALTORS® and received her local association’s REALTOR® of the Year award in 1997. She served six years on the McHenry County association’s Board of Directors and chaired the Nominating Committee.

*Wirth was 2008 president of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®, served as a Leadership Liaison in 2004 representing the organization to seven local REALTOR® associations in northwestern Illinois, served on the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors and served on or chaired association committees including the Executive Committee, Leadership Committee and the National Association of REALTORS® Political Advisory Working Group.

*She has served on the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Economic Development Working Group, Professional Standards Committee and Public Policy and Governmental Affairs Member Involvement Group.

*She’s active with the Women’s Council of REALTORS® and president of its McHenry County and Illinois chapters. She also served as a member of the national council’s Board of Directors and Leadership Development System Committee.

*Wirth is a member of the REALTORS® Political Action Committee Board of Trustees and is recognized as a Major Investor for her RPAC contributions.

*She has been Region 7 Vice President of the Board of Directors and a member of the Sergeant at Arms and Federal Housing Policy committees for the National Association of REALTORS®.

*In her spare time, Wirth has been involved with the Court Appointed Special Advocates, which provides leadership and support in the development of programs whose volunteers advocate for children in the juvenile court system.

Wirth’s slogan: “List or Buy with Kay, It’s Wirth It!” According to the Illinois Association of REALTORS® and Wirth’s list of accomplishments, it certainly seems to be.
