Brace Yourself For Greater Chicago HBA’s February Meeting

new home being builtThe Greater Chicago Home Builders’ Association’s general membership meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 29. The general meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. following the board of directors meeting which takes place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The cost to attend is $15. Tabletops are available for $50, but are limited to three.

The featured speaker this month will be Robert Clark of The Engineered Wood Association with APA. Clark will speak about wall bracing and how it relates to Chicago real estate. Basics of wall bracing will be covered as well as high wind events in the Midwest. Clark will also inform attendees on the 1009 International Residential Code Prescriptive Wall Bracing.

Prior to joining APA in 1999, Clark worked for several architectural product companies where he designed and manufactured SIPs, clean room systems, medical supply systems and recreational buildings. During his work with APA, Clark has specialized in working with post-frame construction, moisture management, analysis of wall bracing code requirements, engineered wood floor detailing raised wood floors and many other related techniques.
