It’s Going to be a Tasty Week in Chicago!

Ready to get out of the kitchen of your Chicago real estate and try some of the city’s best grub at a great price?

Friday, February 17 kicks off Chicago Restaurant Week, a 10-day celebration of the city’s top-class dining scene at a considerable discount.

More than 200 area restaurants will be participating in this fifth annual affair, offering great deals on delicious menu items through Sunday, February 26.

Here are some other events going on around Chicagoland this weekend and beyond.

*Free Polar Days: Chicago’s Northerly Island, 1400 S. Lynn, is hosting a free Polar Adventure Day on Saturday, Feb. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. Make some crafts, watch ice sculptures be created, hear some stories, drink hot chocolate, enjoy live music and more. There would be skiing if there was only snow. Parking is $3.

*Seed Starting: Learn the basics of seed starting vegetables and flowers from a Master Gardener and organic advocate at the Kilbourn Greenhouse, 3501 N. Kilbourn Ave., Chicago, on Saturday, Feb. 18 from noon to 2 p.m. Fee is $10 per person. Call 773-685-3359 to register.

*Chicago Suburban Orchid Show & Sale: Love orchids? This event will include thousands of these plants, which thrive in the Midwest. There will be experts discussing basic potting and culture of orchids. Got a question about your orchid? Bring it with you to the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Rd., Wheaton on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

*Brookfield Zoo FREEze Day: The zoo, at First Avenue and 31st Street in Brookfield, is offering free admission on FREEze day this Sunday, Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be special events going on all day. The $10 parking charge still applies.

*Chicago History Museum free month: This is the perfect weekend to visit this museum, which is offering free admission all month, since Feb. 20 is President’s Day. There’s a special event planned for the occasion on Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. entitled, “Presidents’ Day: Kids in the White House!” Call 312-642-4600 for tickets. The museum is located at 1601 N. Clark Street, Chicago.

*Skydeck Free Day: If your first, middle or last name is George or Washington, you can experience the Skydeck at Willis Tower, 233 E. Wacker, Chicago, for free on Monday, Feb. 20 for President’s Day. First and middle names like Georgina will be honored too. Bring an ID or your kid’s birth certificate to prove it.
