Want an indoor event that could inspire you to upgrade the indoors of your Chicago real estate?

The Home Improvement Showcase Expo is in town this weekend at the Arlington Park Racecourse, 2200 Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights.

The event will provide you with resources to improve, repair and remodel your home with free admission and free parking.

There will also be cooking demonstrations and classes, celebrity appearances, drawings, giveaways and more.

Hours are Friday, February 24, 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, February 25-26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Green Home Experts Grand Reopening: This store, which offers everything you need to create a healthy home, has moved from its 1,125-square-foot location to a 3,500-square-foot showroom in Oak Park at 811 South Blvd. and is hosting a celebration on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with giveaways, free food and fun activities.

Spring Craft Show: More than 150 crafters will be selling their goodies during this 26th annual event on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Andrew High School, 9001 W. 171st St., Tinley Park. Admission is $3; children under 14 are free.

Family Health and Wellness Fair: Streamwood’s Park Place Family Recreation Center, 550 S. Park Blvd., is hosting this event and offering free screenings, giveaways and information to keep your whole family healthy.

Kids Build and Grow Clinic: Teach your future homeowners how to work with tools at this free clinic at Lowe’s on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon, where kids will be constructing Jimmie Johnson’s race car, complete with rumbling sound effects. Registration or early arrival is suggested, since there are a limited number of kits at each store.

Catmania: Orphans of the Storm animal shelter will be featuring all types, ages and breeds of cats available for adoption on Sunday, Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Animal Medical Center of Skokie, 8343 Skokie Blvd., Skokie. 2012 International Cluster of Dog Shows: The International Kennel Club of Chicago is hosting this event at McCormick Place’s Lakeside Building, 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, where pups from across North America will compete. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-26. Neighborhoods of the World: Navy Pier is kicking off its 2nd annual cultural tribute to Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods on Feb. 26 with Amazing India. The free event, which takes place at the Navy Pier Crystal Gardens from noon to 5 p.m., will continue each Sunday for eight weeks.

DuSable Museum of African American History: In honor of the last weekend of Black History Month, the museum, located at 740 East 56th Place in Chicago, is offering free admission to all Illinois residents on Sunday, February 26 from noon to 5 p.m.

Chicago History Museum: This museum, 1601 N. Clark St., Chicago, is offering free admission through the end of the month. Learn about the history of our fare city, and check out the exhibition on the Great Chicago Fire, which helped make the city what it is today.
