Chicago’s Own Night at the Museum

February 25, 2012

There’s a new contest in the city in which the winner gets to move into quite the different type of Chicago real estate: An iconic bridgehouse.

To help celebrate the 20th annual Chicago River Day occurring this May, Friends of the Chicago River is offering the opportunity for one lucky winner and three friends to make the McCormick Bridgehouse and Chicago River Museum their home for 24 hours.

To enter the contest, Chicago and river enthusiasts are asked to submit a short essay discussing their hopes for the Chicago River’s future. They should also propose how they will share their experience to help thousands of people discover the Chicago River through their eyes.

The winner, and up to three friends, will check in at the Bridgehouse Museum on May 4. Activities on May 4-5 include:

– A Chicago River Architecture Cruise courtesy of Wendella Boats.

– Dinner at Hoyt’s featuring exquisite Midwestern comfort food.

– Overnight accommodations in the Bridgehouse Museum.

– Breakfast courtesy of Corner Bakery Cafe.

– Guided kayak tour courtesy of Urban Kayaks.

– Behind-the-scenes access to the bridge control room to watch bridge operators open the DuSable (Michigan Avenue) Bridge as a flotilla of sailboats sail through.

Contest entries must be received by Thursday, March 15. Ready to get started? To download an entry form, click here.
