(Almost) Famous Chicago Real Estate for Sale

March 05, 2012

The city’s newest celebrity resident is already selling her Chicago real estate.

On Monday, talk show host Rosie O’Donnell officially listed for sale the Wrigleyville home that she purchased about six months ago.

O’Donnell bought the 6,000-square-foot home and all its furnishings for close to $2.5 million, and that is how much she is asking for it now.

Built in 2007, the brick-and limestone mansion is located on an over-sized lot at 1517 W. Grace Street on Chicago’s North Side.

The three-story home includes 5 bedrooms, 5.2 baths, 3 fireplaces, 11-foot ceilings, a 2,000-square-foot deck on the roof and a three-car heated garage.

The finished basement includes a sports bar, an exercise room and a theater.

O’Donnell moved to Chicago in October to host “The Rosie Show” for the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) from Oprah’s own Harpo Studios in Chicago.

Rosie even bought the Chicago home from an OWN executive.

O’Donnell, who reportedly has been satisfied with the Chicago apartment provided to her by OWN, isn’t the only one to downsize. Her Chicago-based talk show recently moved out of Oprah’s massive studio and into a smaller setting, where not as many staff members are needed.

The Chicago home Rosie is selling collected a 2010 tax bill of $31,550. Want to see the listing? Click here.
