Rosie Sells Her Chicago Home in One Day

March 07, 2012

Was it something we said?

On Monday, we reported that talk show host Rosie O’Donnell had put her Lakeview home up for sale after only six months as a Chicago homeowner.

On Tuesday, in this tough Chicago real estate market, that Wrigleyville home found a buyer.

And then Rosie announced she was moving out of the city altogether.

O’Donnell bought the Chicago home and all its furnishings at 1517 W. Grace St. in September for almost $2.5 million before coming to Chicago to host her own talk show for the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Stating that she was satisfied with her corporate housing, Rosie called the home purchase an impulse buy and put it up for sale this week at $2.5 million.

It got an offer within 24 hours.

Also within those 24 hours, it was announced that Rosie was moving her entire show out of Chicago and to her home state of New York.

“The Rosie Show” in Chicago debuted in October with almost 500,000 viewers but fell to an average of just over 200,000 within months. The show was downsized to a smaller studio and staff and the audience was eliminated.

Now, not only will Chicago be eliminated but the show in general. The Rosie Show has been canceled.

Oh, Rosie, we hardly got to know you. But we did get a nice glimpse into an almost famous parcel of Chicago real estate.
