Illinois Housing Conference in Springfield this Month

March 11, 2012

Chicago real estate REALTORS® have a good excuse to visit the state’s capital this month.

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is set to hold a housing conference in Springfield on March 26 with the Illinois Association of REALTORS® and the Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation.

This first-ever event will examine the current state of the housing market, discuss how the state is handling the growing number of vacant and distressed housing, and suggest possible ideas that will help more Illinois residents achieve homeownership.

The Illinois Executive Governors Mansion in Springfield.

Hundreds of Illinois REALTORS® are expected to attend this half-day conference, which will include an economic overview from Dr. Geoffrey J.D. Hewings, director of the Regional Economics Applications Laboratory of the University of Illinois, and two panel discussions:

*The Who, What and Where of Foreclosure

*Financial Programs and Opportunities for Illinois Residents and Investors

The housing conference will begin with opening remarks from Gov. Quinn at 1 p.m. on March 26 and will end at 4:45 p.m. with a statement from IAR President Loretta Alonzo, CRB, GRI. A reception will follow at the Executive Mansion from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Illinois Association of REALTORS® will participate in its annual Lobby Day on March 27 with a lunch, a policy briefing, legislative visits and a reception, and IAR business meetings will go on through March 29.
