Awards Presented to Chicago’s Commercial Real Estate Best

Chicago’s commercial real estate industry has been hit hard by the economy, and growth has slowed considerably since its peak several years ago.

But there are still commercial Chicago real estate developers out there developing, and the best of those have been honored with the Oscars of the industry.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository was a big winner during the 24th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards Dinner.

The 24th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards were announced at an awards dinner and benefit held last week that helped raise about $875,000 for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Bridge Development Partners, which completed a Lincolnshire office building and a two-building industrial complex in Woodridge, was named Developer of the Year.

The Astellas Pharma U.S. Inc. North American headquarters, developed by MB Real Estate and GlenStar Properties LLC, was awarded the Build to Suit Project of the Year.

Presidential Towers was named Redevelopment of the Year. The $22 million project, developed by U.S. Equities Realty and Waterton Residential, included the addition of a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market.

The award for Innovative Deal of the Year went to Jones Lang LaSalle and Prime Group Realty Trust Inc., the companies responsible for the upcoming move of the American Medical Association to the historic IBM Plaza, 330 N. Wabash, which will ultimately be renamed AMA Plaza.

The other Chicago commercial real estate award categories and their winners:

*Industrial Broker of the Year: Daniel Leahy, NAI Hiffman

*Interior Contractor of the Year: Leopardo Cos.

*Interior Design Firm of the Year: Partners by DESIGN Inc.

*Investment Sales Broker of the Year: Nooshin Felsenthal, Bruce Miller, Jim Postweiler and Jacint Vukelich, Jones Lang LaSalle Inc.

*Mortgage Broker of the Year: David Knapp, Chang Lee, Stephen Livaditis and Michael Pagliari, Eastdil Secured LLC

*Office Broker of the Year: Joe Learner and Robert Sevim, Studley Inc.

*Office Property Representative of the Year: Mark Baby, Jack McKinney Jr., Matt Pistorio and Brian Whiting, J. F. McKinney & Associates Ltd.

*Project Manager of the Year: MB Real Estate Project Management Team, MB Real Estate Services LLC

*Property Management Company of the Year: CBRE Inc.

*Retail Broker of the Year: Joseph Parrott and Jim Sakanich, CBRE Inc.

*Special Achievement of the Year: Rivers Casino, Development Management Associates, Pepper Construction and Rivers Casino.
