The foreclosure rate throughout the metro Chicago real estate market is one of the highest in the country, but there are programs out there to help struggling homeowners keep their homes.

house with an umbrella over it.There are several upcoming foreclosure prevention workshops being hosted throughout the Chicago area by the Neighborhood Community Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to preserve and strengthen communities by partnering with city leaders, attorneys and relief agencies in educating homeowners about foreclosure prevention.

The SAVE YOUR HOME: Foreclosure Prevention Workshop is designed to educate local residents about options for homeowners facing possible foreclosure.

Topics of the free workshop include:

*Local foreclosure climate and phases of foreclosure

*Loan modifications – what works and what doesn’t

*Federal foreclosure programs

*Regulations that protect homeownres

*Lender or servicer foreclosure fraud – how to find out if you were a victim

*How to buy more time in your home

*Protecting against foreclosure predators

Foreclosure defense attorneys will be on hand to answer your legal questions, and the workshop will provide a free “Save My Home” educational workbook and other local resources that can help.
