Celebrate New Homes Month in April

Spring is finally here, and as the warm weather brings familiar pastimes like baseball, bar-b-ques and the beach back to the forefront of buyers minds in the Chicago real estate market, let’s not forget that April is New Homes Month.

With an emphasis on being cost effective and offering  more bang for your buck, home builders have revamped their strategy to provide contemporary living spaces that meet the needs of today’s potential home buyers.

new home months april“Despite the ongoing challenging economy, home builders are still delivering new homes with exceptional design elements that serve the current financial and functional needs of their home-buying customers,” said Barry Ruttenberg, NAHB chairman.

Some of the new trends and features showcased at the International Builder’s Show in Orlando, Florida this past February highlight the desire for new home buyers to be offered functionality without sacrificing taste and comfort. The International Builder’s Show, the largest construction building trade show in the United States, focuses on how builders can thrive and continually create opportunities in the dynamic world of real estate and home building.

Some of the new trends home builders have included in designing new homes includes an increase in amenities. While most multifamily development designs aimed at new home buyers often feature gyms and media rooms as a common amenity, builders are now offering even more services such as libraries and business lounges to make up for the smaller unit size.

Another add on in new home construction is quite literally an add-on. With large number of families staying together in one home, builders have identified ways to keep families under one roof while providing space and privacy by creating units built alongside the home that offer easy access to the main floor plan.

Offering more space in areas of the home that receive lots of traffic is another trend builders are honing in on. Gone are the days of crowded kitchens, as floor plans have expanded kitchens while eliminating rooms that get less traffic, such as dens and home offices.

As home builders update their strategies to target new home buyers with a focus on  convenience and comfort, what better time find your next home than during New Homes Month this April.
