Show to Show How to Sell Your Home by Owner

April 10, 2012

With Chicago real estate prices continuing to fall, homeowners looking to sell want to get the most out of their sale. One way to do that is to sell the home yourself, without the help of an agent. But how?

A program on Lifetime TV this Thursday can tell you just that.

Representatives from Chicago-based ForSaleByOwner.com will appear on the home-improvement program “Designing Spaces” with tips for homeowners on how to sell their homes without an agent and potentially save thousands of dollars.

The segment, titled “Smart Advice for Home Owners,” covers strategies to help independently minded sellers navigate the home-selling process on their home to avoid agent commissions.

Last year, the average by-owner home received 98 percent of its asking price compared to 95 percent for homes listed with an agent. That three percent can amount to thousands of dollars.

Thursday’s show will cover the benefits and basic steps of listing by owner, including:

*Preparing your home to sell

*Setting a price

*Marketing and getting on the MLS

“We believe anyone can sell their home on their own with the right tools and information,” said Eddie Tyner, General Manager of ForSaleByOwner.com. “By providing the same tools and resources previously only available to real estate agents, ForSaleByOwner.com continues to equip sellers with everything they need to save thousands of dollars while also providing buyers with a hassle-free platform to find their next homes.”

Set your DVR: “Smart Advice for Home Owners” will air on Thursday, April 12 at 8:30 a.m. CST on Lifetime TV.
