North Shore Beauties to Open Their Doors

Winnetka is an affluent North Shore suburb filled with beautiful and historic metro Chicago real estate. On Wednesday, five homes will open their doors for what has been voted “The Best Housewalk on the North Shore.”

village of winnetka signThis year’s theme for the Winnetka Club’s 2012 Annual Housewalk is “Lifestyles,” and the five homes chosen for the tour represent North Shore living through decorative and architectural significance.

Each home will be decorated with finishing touches and floral arrangements from local businesses.

The five homes on the Lifestyles Housewalk:

1. A beautiful 1920’s Tudor with wonderful architectural details.

2. An English-style home built in the late 1800s.

3. A magnificent Manor Home, where there will be a wine tasting.

4. A colorful multi-story contemporary that was originally a ranch home.

5. A home recently renovated and decorated for today’s young family.

Tickets are $60; proceeds benefit The Winnetka Club, formerly known as The Winnetka Woman’s Club, a community service organization dedicated to supporting locally based projects.

New this year is a “Let’s Do Lunch Locally” program in which certain Winnetka restaurants will be offering specials in honor of the event, including: Avli Estiatorio, Cafe Aroma, Jerry’s/Corner Cooks, Little Ricky’s, Mirani’s, O’Neils and Trueman.

What: The Winnetka Club’s 2012 Annual Housewalk.

When: Wednesday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Various homes around Winnetka. Pick up your tickets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 16 a the gazebo in Hubbard Woods Park, 939 Green Bay Road, Winnetka, where there will be complimentary coffee.

Cost: Tickets are $60 and can be purchased at or by calling 847-446-1830. Tickets may also be bought “at the door” on the day of the event at the Hubbard Woods Park “Warming House.”
