Sky(scraper)’s the Limit This Month

June 02, 2012

It’s a new month, and this month happens to celebrate the American dream of owning a home.

family celebrating in front of their sold signThat’s right. June is National Homeownership Month, and with record-low mortgage rates, dropping housing prices and a large inventory of homes for sale, it couldn’t be a better time to buy. Check back to Chicago Real Estate Forum for more on National Homeownership Month later in the month.

Already own a home? Don’t worry, there are observances in the month of June for you too, including Perennial Gardening Month, National Safety Month, Adopt A Shelter Cat Month, National Bathroom Reading Month and Fight the Filthy Fly Month.

Don’t have a home to call your own? June is also National Camping Month.

No matter what you live in, there are plenty of other celebrations to honor during this summer month.

June is:

*Children’s Awareness Month and International Men’s Month

*National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month and National Candy Month

*Dairy Month and Dairy Alternative Month

*Great Outdoors Month and Cancer From The Sun Month

*National Drive Safe Month and Lane Courtesy Month

*Fireworks Safety Month and National Flag Month (shouldn’t these be in July?)

Chicago skyscrapers are filled with professionals, and those skyscrapers are being honored this month as well. Yes, June is Skyscraper Month, a time to celebrate and appreciate the high-rise building.

The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International, the oldest commercial real estate association, is observing the honor at its annual conference from June 24-26 in Seattle, Washington, not Chicago. Oh well, can’t win ’em all.

Have a great month!
