Don’t Miss Building Low-Cost Green Homes Presentation

June 05, 2012

Building Green HomesGreen homes throughout the Chicagoland area continue to be a strong selling point as consumers are much more informed and concerned about the effects of energy-efficient homes not only on their pocketbook, but also on the environment.

The cost of green homes is a concern for many homebuilders and homeowners who may be still sitting on the fence regarding the pros and cons of green home construction.

The Alliance for Environmental Sustainability is presenting the Building Low-Cost Green Homes event on Wednesday, June 6 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Facility at 4979 Indiana Avenue in Lisle. The presentation will also be held on Thursday, June 7 at Roosevelt University on 425 S. Wabash Avenue in Chicago from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. This informative continuing education event focuses on homebuilders, designers, and developers interested in building green homes.

The literature regarding building green homes is expansive and often overwhelming. There is an onslaught of information that homebuilders need to be up to date on concerning the construction of green homes and navigating through the ins and outs of energy-efficient homes is no easy task. Join Jon Sader, the former Construction Director of The Make it Right Foundation, as he discusses his paradigm (and repeatable process) for building Platinum Certified Green homes for less cost than a conventionally built home.

Topics to be covered during the event include:

  • Advanced framing techniques.
  • Smaller, yet more durable foundations.
  • Small-Duct, High-Velocity HVAC.
  • Using Solar PV to reduce energy bills.
  • Using spray foam insulation to create energy-efficient structures.

The Building Low-Cost Green Homes event is only $5 to reserve a spot. Register now at USGBC-Illinois
