Free Chicago Tours All Summer Long

June 06, 2012

After I got up and went on Tuesday, I discovered a get-up-and-go program about Chicago neighborhoods.

The “Get Up and Go!” free neighborhood conversation and tour series kicked off on June 5 and will continue each Tuesday throughout the summer, every week providing an insider look at a different Chicago community.

Each Tuesday at 12:15 p.m., the lunchtime event will begin at the Chicago Cultural Center with a discussion and Q&A session on the chosen Chicago neighborhood with host Mark Bazer, the creator and host of The Hideout’s acclaimed Interview Show.

After the 40-minute conversation, participants will take public transportation to the featured neighborhood where they will receive a free guided walking tour that lasts about an hour.

The first “Get Up and Go!” session was about the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. Sorry for not getting this story to you sooner, Chicago real estate fans! But don’t worry, there are plenty more neighborhoods for you to view.

Here’s the summer line-up:

*June 12: New East Side

*June 19: The Loop

*June 26: Rogers Park

*July 3: Chicago River

*July 10: Millennium Park

*July 17: Beverly

*July 24: Logan Square

*July 31: Back of the Yards
