Top Three Highest-Priced Chicago Real Estate Properties

June 07, 2012

Lots of moneyAre you wondering what the top three highest-priced Chicago real estate currently on the market are? For those with deep pockets or for those who are simply curious, take a look at which properties are asking the highest prices in and around the Windy City.

Coming in at number one is a 12-room penthouse on the 89th floor of the Trump International Hotel & Tower. For a mere $32 million price tag, you can move into this lush penthouse which will enable you to look down upon Chicago from the highest point in the Western Hemisphere.

With 14,260 square feet featuring five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, an exercise room, a media room,  a study, a sitting room and a gallery, this penthouse offers plenty of room to roll around in hundred dollar bills. At 1,170 feet above the ground, the air can be a bit slippery. However, for anyone able to cough up $32 million, we’re sure they can get used to the elevation quickly.

Coming in second is the home of basketball icon and Chicago favorite, Michael Jordan. The most beloved basketball player of all time has put his Highland Park mansion on the market for $29 million. The huge price tag will get you eight acres, nine-bedrooms, 15 full bathrooms,a pool, outdoor tennis court, a putting green and, of course, a basketball court. Property taxes for the former Bulls star’s residence are $165,000 a year. If you can foot the $29 million dollar asking price, the steep property taxes shouldn’t be a concern.

And finally, Vince Vaughn’s 2,000-square-foot, 19-room triplex penthouse on Michigan Avenue makes the list. For $18.4 million, you can own this three-floor penthouse located atop the Palmolive building. One floor is strictly for entertaining ala Swingers. Another floor is geared towards family living with enough room for literally four christmases. The  top floor offers plenty of fun with a screening room to watch Wedding Crashers and Starsky and Hutch over and over. There is also a billiards and game room for plenty of dodgeball. The floor also features the restored office of Hugh Hefner back when Playboy’s headquarters were in the  building.
