Urge your Senators to Co-Sponsor the Home Building Lending Improvement Act of 2012

NAHB LOGOOne of the major hindrances in the housing recovery has been access to credit.  Builders trying to start projects have become stymied due to banks refusing to let them have access to a credit line. In order to combat this current credit crunch, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has raised their voice on Capitol Hill to advocate for the housing industry.

Senator Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) has introduced legislation to tackle the credit issue and help builders get back to doing what they do best: Build.

According to an NAHB press release, S. 2078, the Home Building Lending Improvement Act of 2012, directs the banking regulators to issue new regulatory guidance in key areas that have resulted in the credit window being slammed shut on builders in the industry. The legislation removes the barriers to lending while preserving the regulators’ ability to assure the safety and the soundness of the financial institutions they oversee.
