The Obamas were in town over the weekend, and all those who live around the presidential family’s Hyde Park home just might have caught a glimpse of them.

There is an opportunity for some new homeowners to set themselves up for a good viewing of the famous family when they return as a house situated a little over a block north of Obama’s Chicago real estate is for sale.

The historic Queen Anne mansion is called the C.E. Gill Residence, is located at 4917 S. Greenwood Ave. and has an asking price of $1,699,000.

It was designed by William Otis, a prominent local architect and an Art Institute lecturer, and built in 1896, which is apparent with vintage details throughout including the original woodwork, period ceiling fixtures, stained glass windows and bedroom closet sinks.

The 5,355-square-foot home is situated on a 300-foot-deep lot and offers four bedrooms on the second level and another four on the third, three full bathrooms and one half bath, a study, five fireplaces, hardwood floors throughout, a front porch and a backyard porch and balcony.

Did we mention it’s located right near the Chicago home of the President of the United States?

The property might boast a big price tag, but the 2010 tax bill on the home was only $7,289.50.
