Power2Switch offers Consumers Electrifying Choices

June 22, 2012

Electric MeterPower2Switch, a new Chicago startup, is offering a quick and easy way to change your electricity supplier and save some money.

Thanks to electricity deregulation, Chicagoland homeowners now have a choice when it comes to their electricity supplier. Power2Switch has found a fantastic niche in offering consumers a way to quickly find an electricity supplier and save a lot of money on their electricity bill.

Our electric bill has two parts: Supply and distribution. Supply is basically where your electricity comes from while distribution deals with how the electricity gets to your home. Power2Switch enables consumers to switch to a more cost effective supplier by simply entering their zip code, selecting the best rate from a list of suppliers, entering your info and confirming your switch.

This writer entered his info into their online system and within seconds I was looking at 13 different Chicagoland suppliers offering rates much lower than what I currently pay.

So where is the catch?

There isn’t one. Power2Switch does not collect any money from consumers. They don’t even ask for credit card information. The best part? Power2Switch takes care of all the changes once you choose a new supplier with no interruption to your service and no home visits.

So how long does it take for the switch to a new electricity supplier take?

According to their website, the switching process takes anywhere from 30-45 days. As soon as your meter is read by the utility company you will receive a notification regarding your final bill and switch date to your new supplier.

Most customers see a savings of 21 percent after using Power2Switch to change electricity suppliers. As for the wide array of suppliers available, they are all certified and regulated by the Illinois Commerce Commission.

To find out more, visit Power2Switch and begin saving money on your electricity bill.
