HBA Greater Fox Valley to Merge with Northern Illinois HBA

The Home Builders Association of Greater Fox Valley will merge with the Northern Illinois Home Builders Association, following the approval of the merge during special meetings of the NAHB Executive and Board of Directors.

The neighboring associations will join forces thanks to the efforts of HBAI President, Bill Basic, and the Presidents of three local associations: Hal Stembridge (Northern), Allen Drewes (Fox Valley) and John Wozniak (Greater Chicago). The

The HBA of Greater Chicago (HBAGC) territory completely surrounds the two merging associations, and favored a larger merger of all three, but following a mediation conducted by the Home Builders Association of Illinois in May, a compromise was reached that orders the newly merged association to work with the HBAGC over the next 12 months to  explore a merger.

HBAI Board of Directors Drafted a resolution of support for the merger with the condition that all sides agree, and after several months of special meetings, sent that resolution to the National Association of Home Builders.

A merger of HBAGC, one of the oldest local associations in the country, with the newly formed association, would comprise a nine county territory containing 68% of the state’s population.
