Is Chicago Condo Living the Life for You?

August 09, 2012

Chicago condo livingIf you’re looking to live inside the Windy City itself, you’ve probably been inundated with a long list of condo options. Condo living has it’s perks, a smaller space often means: less mess, maintenance-free exteriors, amazing amenities and great downtown skyline views. However, picking the right type of condo can be tricky. In a recent post, Brenda Lyttle explores and explains the “5 Styles of Chicago Condos.”

  1. Condo Hotels: This latest and greatest real estate trend is quickly becoming popular due to the fact you live in the building as a resident and have access to everything you would get in a hotel. Plus, if you’re not living there, you can still rent it out as a hotel room.
  2. Lofts: Lofts aren’t just your regular old condo, they are a condo with pizzazz. Wide open spaces with no room separation is key, and many of these units have been converted from factories and warehouses.
  3. Townhomes: Don’t mind being close to your neighbors? Then townhome living might be right for you. Even though you share walls, you don’t share space above and below. Plus, unlike standard condos, you own the area around you.
  4. Villas: These single story condos are very popular as luxury townhomes and in retirement communities.
  5. Single family homes: With these, you own the land the building, but you will still be in a contract with the homeowner’s association for the services and amenities.

Deciding which condo lifestyle is best for you can help narrow down your house hunt considerably. If you’re looking for Chicago condos or even a Chicago new home in the suburbs, be sure to explore our site.
