Home Building in South Chicago Can Strengthen The Economy

south chicago new homes constructionRecent findings from the Construction Market Report and the Southwest Suburban Homebuilders Association state that Chicago new home builders in the South Chicago market were issued 538 new building permits in the past year.

Permits were issued at 34 different locations from August 1, 2011 to August 1, 2012 and totaled $146 million. This is good news because the creation of new homes and new condos will help to strengthen the economy.

The National Association of Home Builders predicts that the local impact of these 538 new permits is $8 million in local income, $10 million in taxes and other revenue and 1,300 new jobs.

The locations associated with these permits were in Will County, Orland Park and Tinley Park in Cook County, which is an area that contains 18 townships and 16 municipalities. The permits were issue for a combination of condos, townhomes and single-family homes.
