The Clybourn Corridor is Getting An Expansion

September 20, 2012

real estate in Chicago constructionThe growth of the Clybourn Corridor in the North Side retail district is just another example of how the market for real estate in Chicago is on the mend.

Target Corp. is planning to open a store at Division and Larrabee streets and this would expand the Clybourn Corridor’s reach by more than half a mile.

What other stores are coming to Clybourn? Residents will soon be able to go clothes shopping at Nordstrom Rack and Anthropologie and will find home goods at Williams-Sonoma. Other retail outlets expected to open include Dick’s Sporting Goods and a 14-screen movie theater. There is no word yet on an opening date for Target, though construction on the big-box store is expected to be complete in 2013. Some of the other retail outlets are expected to open later this year.

Structured Development LLC, a Chicago-based firm, also has plans to build a Mariano’s grocery store in a development that will also include nearly 300 apartment units.

Retailers have been increasingly interested in the Clybourn Corridor and builders are feeling optimistic that the area will continue to grow within the next five years. The Clybourn Corridor attracts many shoppers on the weekends from outside neighborhoods and the suburbs. The new stores will bring even more people into the area.
