Sales of New Homes in Dupage County Climbing

October 25, 2012

dupage county home sales climbingYesterday we reported that Illinois home sales increased 15.9 percent from September of last year.

So, what exactly was the breakdown of real estate sales in specific Chicago area counties? According to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors, Wheaton saw a 9.3 percent increase in homes sold from September 2011, while Lisle saw a double-digit increase with a 57.1 percent increase from September 2011. Naperville, Elmhurst and Woodridge also had double-digit improvements in home sales.

Naperville continually stands out as a leader in the Chicago-area market, with a total of 471 sales in 2012.

The areas of Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Darien and Downers Grove saw a slight drop in home sales.

Overall, though, sales of new homes in Dupage County and the greater Chicago area were the busiest since 2006, with a total of 7,396 transactions. This number is especially impressive because home sales often slow down after Labor Day. However, the average time a home spends on the market has been decreasing through the fall.

Wheaton and Naperville also made headlines this fall for being included on the top 100 of the CNN Money Magazine “Best Places to Live in the U.S.” 2012 list. The list ranks communities based on quality of school systems, jobs, affordable housing and recreational opportunities.

What cities and counties have you been considering during your new home search?
