the 2012 election and chicago real estateIn a recent press release issued by the National Association of Home Builders, chairman Barry Rutenberg urged President Obama to consider several housing issues and outlined several suggestions that the NAHB has for the president’s next term.

The NAHB hopes that the government will focus on the following housing issues:

  • Resolving issues related to the ‘fiscal cliff,’ which is a series of taxpayer laws that are scheduled to change on December 31, 2012. The NAHB hopes that Obama will consider how these tax changes affect the housing recovery.
  • Ensuring that consumers and small businesses with good credit will be able to receive mortgages and loans.
  • Helping to resolve the foreclosure crisis by keeping mortgage rates low and encouraging home sales.
  • Strengthening job creation, since job creation is a major force that can bolster the housing recovery.

The NAHB looks forward to meeting with the new Congress and working with the new administration in a bipartisan manner.
