ID theft protection, you can do a lot by just cleaning up. There are a lot of aspects to your financial life which can get out of hand, from paperwork to keeping up with your free annual credit reports. By taking the time to focus on cleaning, you can manage your bills and other paperwork much easier. The Equifax Finance Blog shows you how to clean up and pave the path for financial improvement in the article, “Credit Score Clean Sweep—Get Organized.”

If you haven’t already, fall is a great time to get your free credit report from each of the three reporting agencies. All it takes is a quick visit to AnnualCreditReport.com to get your reports sent to you. Once they arrive, set some time aside to carefully comb through each for inaccuracies, outstanding accounts and to make sure that all the information on the report is your own. Accidents happen from time to time, and it is important that you make sure any stray information is reported as quickly as possible. From there, the agencies will investigate and notify you of the outcome of your dispute. If there are errors on multiple reports, they can be corrected with one report; however, you may receive faster results if you send disputes to agencies individually.
