The Latest Winter Paint Trends

November 25, 2012

chicago new homes paint trendsAccording to the color experts at the Pantone Color Institute, the number one winter 2013 paint trend is called the “Connoisseur.” The winter 2013 palette utilizes neutral tones and warmer hues of purple, orchard and violet. Home accessory and furnishing colors that go well with these homes are beige, silver, subtle green, champagne or a deep brown.

The second most popular color trend is called the “New Old School” palette, which includes royal purples, evergreen, deep navy and ruby.

For a trendy “Connoisseur” royal purple color, try Benjamin Moore Kalamata or Sherwin Williams Kimono Violet.

For a deep brown, try Sherwin Williams Polished Mahogany or Benjamin Moore English Manor.

If you want to add one of the new trends to your home, but don’t want to repaint an entire room, add some metallic or champagne wall décor using wall stencils. On a budget? You can find wall stencils at your local Home Depot or craft store such as Michael’s or A.C. Moore. Prefer to shop locally? Visit Thybony Paint & Wallpaper, with locations at 3445 North Kimball Ave. and 5424 N Clark St. in Chicago.

Do you plan on repainting your walls this winter? If so, what do you think of the latest color trends?
