Greatrooms Designers & Builders, Inc. Wins Gold Key Award for Custom Home.
Chicago Real Estate Forum and Marketing RELEVANCE congratulate Greatrooms Designers & Builders, Inc. for winning a Gold Key Award in Architectural Design for Custom Home.
The residence at 2340 Schiller was designed for a young family that was relocating from Chicago to the suburbs. With three young children they needed more space, but still needed to be located close to the city.
The detailing of the exterior brought together several elements that needed to be incorporated to work well together. The combination of exterior materials was carefully selected to meet the homeowner’s requirements. Exterior materials include painted cedar siding and trim, stained front door and garage door, stone, asphalt shingles and metal roofing.
The largest challenge was designing a home that had all of the spaces a growing family requires within the allowable square footage. The first floor was to include formal living and dining rooms, an open concept kitchen/breakfast/family room, a walk-in pantry and a mudroom. The second floor was to include a master suite, a bedroom for each child, two bathrooms and an office. The use of as much space as possible was a key in design. This included incorporating niches and recessed built-ins wherever possible.
