As we head closer to 2013, it’s always fun to recap the many Chicago rankings that occurred during the past year.

In Chicago’s most recent ranking, the city earned a spot as one of the top ten holiday destinations. According to Getaroom.com, an online discount hotel company, Chicago will be the number six most visited city this season.

Chicago is also the U.S. city that experienced the largest increase in its downtown population over the past 10 years. If the downtown population of Chicago continues to grow at a strong rate, this will certainly be good news for both the housing market and the local economy in general.

Perhaps the population growth has something to do with the fact that in October Chicago was the most-searched-for housing market online at Realtor.com!

The city has even received accolades for being a dog friendly city! According to Zoom Room, Chicago comes in at number seven on the list of best metros for homeowners with canine companions.

Lastly, Chicago earned the top spot for having the number one architecture in the country, according to Travel + Leisure.

It will certainly be exciting to see where Chicago lands on the 2013 ‘best of’ lists!
