Coyle & Herr the Perfect Spot for Chicago New Homes Decor

December 18, 2012

chicago new homes interior designStep into Coyle & Herr, and you’ll find everything from brightly colored canvas paintings to vintage martini glasses and sleek, modern end tables.

As co-owner Dot Coyle would say, the shop is truly a “destination experience.” Located in the Bridgeport Art Center, the furnishings consignment warehouse boasts 12,000 square feet of unique furniture, accessories and art for new homes in Chicago.

Coyle & Herr is a collaborative effort run by Dot Coyle and Mary Beth Herr, who opened the shop in December 2011. Herr has previously worked for an architectural firm as well as Beth Shapiro’s interior design company, and Coyle has more than 20 years of experience working for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. Together, they use their knowledge to help homeowners customize the perfect look for their new home or condo.

“The shop has really become part of a creative ecosystem,” Coyle said. “The eclectic mix we offer shows people how you can integrate different styles in your home.”

While every piece of furniture and decor sold by the shop has its own history, the location of Coyle & Herr has a rich background as well. The shop is located inside Chicago’s former Spiegel Warehouse, a 500,000 square-foot building that is becoming a haven for the city’s artists and entrepreneurs. Stand outside of the building, and you’ll notice 15-foot windows and an eye-catching sculpture garden that serve as a testament to the Art Center’s emphasis on innovation and creativity.

Coyle & Herr has been featured on WGN’S Bring it On Home and is a Time Out Chicago 2012 critics’ top shopping pick. The shop is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m through December  23, and will continue to offer extended hours in 2013. Coyle & Herr is also offering a special 10 percent off coupon this month!
