Have you recently moved into a new home and are looking for a way to meet your neighbors and learn more about your community? Then check out the Chicago Volunteer Expo.

The expo is the perfect place to be if you want to volunteer and give back to your Chicago neighborhood or suburban town. Meet and visit with representatives from more than 50 organizations around the city and find an opportunity that will work with your interests and schedule.

Whether you’re interested in local gardening, building homes or working with children or animals, there is certainly an organization that will be a great fit.

The expo is free, and all ages are welcome.

When: Sunday, February 10, 2013 10:00 am  to 4:00 pm
Where: Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
2430 N. Cannon Dr., Chicago, IL

Some featured organizations include Rebuilding Exchange, an organization that repurposes reclaimed wood, as well as Friends of the Forest Reserve, which protects the forest reserves of Cook County. If you’re into gardening, be sure to check out the Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse organization and Neighbor-Space.
