Pat Rea Gives Economic Forecast at the January SSHBA Membership Meeting

January 19, 2013

Pat Rea SSHBA The Southwest Suburban Home Builders Association celebrated their first meeting of the year on Thursday with a 2012-2013 economic forecast presentation by Pat Rea, who has held a variety of prestigious positions. Rea’s economic expertise comes from working as the Executive Director of the Illinois Development Finance Authority, as well as Chairman of the Village of Tinley Park’s Finance and Economic Development Committee.

According to Rea, the national and local economy is on the mend, though the recovery will be slow and steady. Employment is up and consumer debt is down, but tight credit restrictions and a high amount of student debt is slowing down progress a bit.

Thursday’s meeting was also an exciting time to get together and share predictions about the housing industry prior to the International Home Builder’s Show in Las Vegas, which is only a few days away! If you’re not able to attend this event or if you are attending but want to revisit everything you’ve learned, stop by the International Builders’ Show recap. The event will take place February 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at Parksite, located at 1400 Remington Blvd. in Bolingbrook.  Register now through the SSHBA or HBAGC.
