Logan Square Will Be a Hot Neighborhood in 2013

January 26, 2013

Chicago Skyline NightWe recently reported that Old Town was ranked as the number one hottest neighborhood in the United States, according to Realtor.com. Now, another Chicago neighborhood is receiving accolades as a top location. Logan Square was recently ranked as one of the top 10 up and coming neighborhoods in the country, according to Redfin.

Logan Square came in at number eight on the list after experiencing a 20 percent year-over-year increase in home prices and a 94 percent increase in home sales. Currently, the average listing price for a Chicago new home in Logan Square is $242,439 and the median sales price is $223,000.

The results were based on purchasing activity and data from more than 10,000 homebuyers and more than 130,000 real estate listings as well as a survey of more than 600 real estate agents who were asked to share their thoughts on neighborhoods with lots of trendy appeal and buyer interest. The neighborhood is attractive to people of all ages for a variety of reasons, ranging from its progressive local shops to its unique mix of housing as well as easy access to public transportation, bike and walking paths.

Logan Square was the only neighborhood in the Midwest to make the list; the rest of the top ten hottest neighborhoods were located in California and the Pacific Northwest
