Art Van Furniture Coming to Orland Park
A major furniture retail chain will soon be making its mark in the Chicago area. Art Van Furniture is launching its first Illinois location in Orland Park sometime this summer.
Art Van, which is currently Michigan’s largest furniture retailer, specializes in mattresses, bedding and home furniture. The Orland Park store will be the company’s first non-Michigan location.
The new store will take up 46,000 square-feet of space in a former Dominick’s located on South LaGrange Road. The Orland Park area is already a busy hub for furniture retailers, with Value City Furniture, Walter E. Smithe Furniture, a RoomPlace and La-Z-Boy Furniture nearby.
However, Art Van believes Orland Park is a good location to introduce the store to Illinois because of its reputation as a prime retail suburb. Plus, the company believes that its next-day delivery service and competitive pricing will lead to their success in an area with a large number of existing home furnishing stores.
The opening of a new store could be a sign that the housing market is on the mend. Furniture sales tend to be one of the industries that sees growth when home sales are active. This is especially true in a popular area such as Orland Park, which is known for its retail shopping and solid school district.
