More than 58,000 servicemen and women gave their lives in service during the Vietnam War, and during the month that we celebrate America’s independence, residents of McHenry County will find it easier than ever to pay their respects to these brave individuals. The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will be on display from July 17 through 21 as part of the McHenry Fiesta Days.

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is about three-fifths the size of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C., but it still stands at an impressive six feet tall and spans almost 300 feet. The purpose is to serve as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the war, and the traveling version of the wall was made to help others heal, as well as bring a piece of history to those who may not be able to travel to Washington.
