Northwestern Memorial Ranks Sixth in the Nation

Harrison, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare’s president and CEO.  “Although we will celebrate this achievement, we recognize there is still opportunity for improvement and will remain focused on advancing innovations in patient care and medical research to support the communities we’re so privileged to serve.”

The rankings, currently in their 24th year, cover nearly 5,000 medical centers across the U.S. and span 16 medical specialties, from cancer to neurology and neurosurgery. Hospitals that rank near the top of the list for at least six specialties earn a spot on the honor roll list. Only 18 distinguished hospitals across the United States made this year’s list.

Northwestern Memorial scored high in patient safety, demonstrating a commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes. The 868-bed general medical and surgical facility, which is also a teaching hospital, ranked no. 7 in the nation in orthopedics , neurology and neurosurgery. They also ranked no. 9 in the nation in urology, diabetes and endocrinology.

With one of the nation’s best hospitals, as well as easy access to some of the nation’s best restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and recreation areas, it’s no wonder more homebuyers are choosing to buy real estate in Chicago.
