Tour a Cool Kitchen in Harbor Country this Weekend

October 09, 2013

Chicago kitchenMy favorite Onion article ever: Mr. Autumn Man. And while it refers to smug fall-loving denizens of New England, I like to think it could also apply to Chicagoans reveling in our version of New England: Harbor Country. So, Dukes and Duchesses of Fall, grab your pumpkin-spiced coffees—I’ve got a nice weekend event for you in Harbor Country (and I promise, you will not be mocked by a satirical newspaper).

Designs for Dignity‘s 10th annual Kitchen Walk is coming up Saturday, October 12. This fun event offers a chance to check out five homes, ranging from cute cottages to feats of modern architecture (such as a house made out of shipping containers). Each stop on the self-guided tour includes snacks and wine, and the day ends with a reception at the Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks. All proceeds go to Designs for Dignity, which helps non-profits secure the furniture and space-planning assistance they need to improve people’s lives.

The tour begins at 11 a.m. EST at Susan Fredman at Home, 15998 Red Arrow Highway, Union Pier. Buy tickets ($100) here.
