Pick a Winning Pumpkin Patch for the Whole Family!

October 16, 2013

Fall flavors for Chicago homesIf you live in an in-town new Chicago home but want to bring home the delightful Fall looks and flavors that you can only get with pumpkin, there’s no way to fake it – you need to visit one of the great Chicago pumpkin patches for a few decorative, tasty pumpkins! Thankfully, there are many located around the city, and it’s only a short drive to get to three of the best for the perfect pumpkins and some Fall family fun. Make a trip to the pumpkin patch a tradition with your family by heading to one of these pumpkin-filled farms:

Goebbert’s Farm & Garden Center in South Barrington offers a huge farm stand store with pumpkins, fresh popcorn kernels, homemade apple cider and everything in-between.  While the farm stand itself is great for getting pumpkin and other fall flavors, Goebbert’s also has a huge selection of fun things for the family to do,  including an exotic petting zoo, haunted house, corn maze, playground and a pumpkin smasher.

Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm is located in Lockport. If you and your family are into the scary and adventurous side of Halloween and you also want to get your Fall gourds in one stop, Siegel’s in the place to go. This is because Siegel’s has two zombie-themed attractions this year, including a zombie paintball ride and a zombie chase through a corn maze! In addition, there are more than 20 attractions included with admission, such as slides, a petting zoo, pumpkin princess, playgrounds and a corn maze.

Johansen Farms, located in Bolingbrook, truly brings the country to suburbia and offers all of the staples of a pumpkin farm without the long drive to reach a rural farm. Johansen’s has a wide variety of attractions like pony rides, a corn maze, hay tunnel, train rides, a two story air slide, a jump castle and a petting zoo.

Are there other pumpkin patches in the Chicagoland area that are great for families? Let us know in the comments!
