Need Evidence Recovery is in Full Swing? Just Look at the Numbers!

MRED LogoChicago real estate brokers who use the Midwest Real Estate Data Multiple Listing service already know that the recovery is in full swing — the year isn’t over and 2013 is already the best calendar year for real estate since 2007! This is counted in both dollar volume and total transactions, and while there’s a big hole to dig out of with excess homes on the market and foreclosures, among other things; a surge of optimism accompanies this news of strong numbers.

To date, MRED sold real estate volume for 2013 totals over $24 billion from around 103,000 closed transactions! Chicago and the surrounding nine counties have experienced double-digit percentage gains from a year ago. The real estate market in Chicago has seen eight months of year-over year sales and median price gains.  All indicators point in the same direction: a strong housing market that is on its way back on top.

This is a louder version of the preview from months ago with homes selling in just a few days and bidding wars across the metro area – an overall interest in housing with buyers who just don’t want to wait any longer. This is great news for sellers and real estate professionals, who are benefitting from higher demand and hotter markets.
