If Halloween didn’t satisfy your sweet tooth or you’re just looking for something for your whole family (and visiting relatives) to do indoors during the cooler months, you’ll want to add making a trip to local chocolate factories near our McHenry County homes to your list. Both Riverside Chocolate Factory and Anderson’s Candy Shop are located near our McHenry area communities.

Riverside Chocolate Factory has been in operation since 1986. Located at 2102 W. Route 120 in McHenry, they have a plethora of chocolate products to choose from including hand dipped fruits, turtles, chocolate with all of the fixings, fresh cremes, fudge cups, old fashioned English toffee, homemade fudge and even chocolate dipped bacon! The store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. so drop by to taste their creations and even see how they are made.

Located at 10301 N. Main Street in Richmond, Anderson’s Candy Shop has been making sweet treats since 1919. Many of their creations are cooked in a copper kettle over an antique gas stove, and every piece of candy is handmade. For Thanksgiving, visitors to the shop will also be delighted to find seasonal creations including a chocolate cornucopia, chocolate turkey supper, little gobbler, the big bird and Tom turkey. Anderson’s is open on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m.

We have two beautiful communities of McHenry County real estate located near both of these candy shops.

Liberty Trails in McHenry is a master-planned community offering green space, luxury and convenience. Here, buyers will find semi-custom ranch and two-story homes with 1,300 to 3,200 square feet and pricing from the high $100,000s. The community also offers a playground and plenty of park space to run around, while local shopping, dining, entertainment and state-of-the-heart healthcare are not too far outside of the community.

At The Trails of Pheasant Ridge you will find Richmond homes priced from the $160,000s. This community provides residents with a country setting that is still convenient to Chicago and the surrounding area. Here, buyers again enjoy a wide selection of semi-custom ranch and two-story plans designed to meet the needs of every homeowner. Plus, you’ll enjoy living in the welcoming village of Richmond which boasts a variety of shops, restaurants and services, as well as close proximity to Lake Geneva.

If you’re in the market for a new home, we guarantee either Liberty Trails or The Trails of Pheasant Ridge will have a new home that will be just as sweet as your favorite candy!
