All Natural Autumn Centerpieces

November 06, 2013

When it comes to setting a table for an autumnal dinner or a Thanksgiving feast, a centerpiece can be assembled from something as simple as what you gather on your crisp fall morning walk or what’s in season at the local market.

When we reflect on what we love about autumn, it’s not only the joy that comes from observing the change of the season, but also the warmth we feel from time spent with family and friends. Embrace both with a table set with every intention of spending hours with special company and savory suppers.

Look no further than trees in transition for a perfect arrangement – a few clippings from the yard elevated in a tall white vase put nature’s show of changing leaves on display in your new Chicago home.

November is our last glimpse of the beautiful fall season, embrace it with gourds, mini pumpkins, and bittersweet gathered on a lazy Susan, elevating a few with candlestick holders and inserting votives that cast a warm glow as the sun goes down.

Pine trees gift the gift of pinecones large and small. Create mini ornaments by hot gluing twine or fishing line and suspend them from dormant branches as an ode to the coming winter.

A tiered display makes a dramatic statement – elevate chrysanthemum clippings, figs, artichokes, pears, walnuts and more of nature’s bounty on a stand that’s meant to take the spotlight but still allow for conversation.

Did you know nature is friendly to gilding?  Give leaves, branches and acorns a warm glow by treating them a layer or two of shimmery craft paint. To complete the scene, mix in warm champagne and gold tones with pretty place settings and flatware.
