With the holidays here again many families are busy making their plans for another magical season full of memories. For our McHenry homes residents, here are some of the top local events you have to look forward to:

  • Christmas of Yesteryear: Partake in old fashioned holiday magic in Richmond. On Friday, December 6, Santa will arrive on an antique fire truck for the tree lighting ceremony followed by photos with the jolly man and his helpers. All weekend, children can also enjoy a free stocking stuffer treasure walk, while adults can collect ornaments to win gift certificates to local shops.
  • Holiday “Apps” Appetizer Restaurant Crawl: Start off the season right with an evening of yummy appetizers and holiday drinks. This Richmond event on Saturday, December 7 will start at 6 p.m. Stops along the crawl include Dilars Restaurant, Olive Black Martini & Wine Lounge and Reds Steak & BBQ. A portion of proceeds from the evening will benefit the Richmond Food Pantry.
  • Holiday Open House at McHenry County Historical Society Museum: From December 7 to January 10, view all things Christmas as you take a step back in time to the 1950s, make your own early American Christmas ornament, listen to the sounds of the season, nibble on homemade cookies and baked goods and search for unique gifts.
  • Victorian Christmas on Woodstock Square: The square will be aglow with thousands of lights and trees as well as carolers to create a cozy atmosphere for your holiday shopping. Plus, enjoy carriage rides around the square every Friday and Saturday through December 21.
  • The Nut Cracker Ballet: Berkshire Ballet will present Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable holiday masterpiece at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake on Saturday, December 21 and Sunday, December 22.

If you’re not yet a resident of our McHenry real estate at The Trails of Pheasant Ridge in Richmond or Liberty Trails in McHenry, we hope you’ll pay a visit to our sales centers this month to learn about our new homes.
