Oak Design and Construction Wins Gold Key Award for Historic Bedroom Remodel

December 05, 2013

historic master bedroom remodelChicago Real Estate Forum and Marketing RELEVANCE congratulate Oak Design and Construction for winning a Gold Key Award in the Excellence in Remodeling – Special Projects category for the master bedroom remodel completed at the Gracie residence on Fair Oaks Avenue. The Key Awards are the premier awards in the Chicago new home construction industry.

Remodeling the master bedroom of this 1920s Oak Park Bungalow was a labor of love. The primary goal was to update the look and enhance the view to outside. This was accomplished by turning what had previously been two closets into French doors that look out on the backyard. Closet walls were removed and the exterior wall was fitted for new doors and windows, allowing natural light into the room.

Limestone was matched to create a seamless appearance and tongue and groove oak flooring with radiant heat was installed. Wood trim and wall paneling matching the rest of the home was chosen, again to create a cohesive style. Lastly, wall sconces and Bradberry & Bradberry wallpaper were the finishing touches added to create a simply elegant space.
