Orren Pickell Building Group Wins Gold Key Award for Whole Home Renovation

December 11, 2013

Wilmette HouseChicago Real Estate Forum and Marketing RELEVANCE congratulate Orren Pickell Building Group for winning a Gold Key Award in the Excellence in Remodeling – Whole House category for the Wilmette House. The Key Awards are the premier awards in the Chicago new home construction industry.

Situated on a sunny corner lot in East Wilmette, this 1920s Crabbe-designed traditional three-story home was in desperate need of a complete overhaul. One family, relocating from Colorado, saw the structures hidden potential and enlisted the experienced and innovative design team from Orren Pickell to transform this nearly 100-year-old residence into a family’s dream home without breaking the bank.

The homes existing floor plan was more compartmentalized than desired and lacked a mud room and gracious master suite. Mindful of Wilmette’s strict Floor Area Ratio regulations, a small two-story addition was built off of the back of the house to overcome those issues. The first floor plan was redesigned to offer a more open and inviting main living area. Finally, every interior element from trim to cabinetry was enhanced or completely updated with fresh new finishes and custom features to fit this active young family’s needs.
