Celebrity Real Estate: John Hughes Lake Forest Estate Back on Market with Price Cut

February 11, 2014
Screenwriter, director, producer and film auteur John Hughes’ former home in Lake Forest has been relisted for sale. The seven bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom home first went up for sale in 2011, two years after Hughes suffered a fatal heart attack. At three stories and over 11,000 square feet the home built in 1929 is no McMansion. Originally listed at $5.89 million, the home goes back up with a sizable $1.6 million price chop and is currently seeking $4.295 million. Many of Hughes’ most famous films took place and were filmed in the Chicago suburbs, including The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Weird Science, Sixteen Candles and Home Alone. Hughes will be sincerely missed by those who grew up with his films, but his legacy (and former home) still remain.
